the snake

"He wanted a friendly pet, and one that would amaze audiences, but he was looking for a reptile, something that has no knowledge of friendship...The snake is your animal-soul.  When you bring it into the hot air of your wanting-energy, warmed by that and by the prospect of power and wealth, it does massive damage.  Leave it in the snow mountains.  Don't expect to oppose it with quietness and sweetness and wishing."

king of pain

the snake dressed in orchid petals
with a parasol to protect from rain
she set off to find the king of pain

he would recognize her by her crown
he would baptize her and make her his queen
Queen of the Snakes...

if a tall welcoming tree could smile

His face appeared to have been carved from ancient stone. His voice was a faint whisper. The Native American Medicine Man passed on these commandments:

Treat the Earth and all that dwell thereon with respect.

Remain close to the Great Spirit.

Show great respect for your fellow beings.

Work together for the benefit of all mankind.

Give assistance and kindness wherever needed.

Do what you know to be right.

Look after the well being of mind and body.

Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good.

Be truthful and honest at all times.

Take full responsibility for your actions.

mother earth

"Forget not that the EARTH delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair." - Kahlil Gibran

Thursday, April 21

"Earth Mother teach me of my kin,

Of Hawk, and Dove and flower,

Of blinding sunlight, shady knoll,

Desert wind and morning showers.

Teach me every language of

The creatures that sing to me,

That I may count the cadence of

Infinite lessons in harmony.

Teach me how to honor

The Sacred Spaces of all,

Gently melding with the whole,

Answering the whippoorwill’s call.

Steamy tropics to glacial ice,

To thundering ocean tides,

In every grain of desert sands,

Your beauty forever abides.

Oh, Mother of every kingdom,

Let me claim my family’s love,

From the whales of deepest oceans,

To the Winged-ones, high above.

Expand my limited vision

Until I can truly know

The missions of my Relations

And the blessings they bestow."

a clear message

"Be patient.  Respond to every call that excites your spirit.  Ignore those that make you fearful and sad, that degrade you back toward disease and death." - RUMI

in truth the soul

"Oh soul, you worry too much. You have seen your own strength. You have seen your own beauty. You have seen your golden wings. Of anything less, why do you worry? You are in truth the soul, of the soul, of the soul.” - RUMI

let light shine

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

- Marianne Williamson (b. 1952)

I woke up with this quote in my thoughts, from my dreams perhaps...

secret of living

"Make each day a magnificent adventure.  Accept the challenges that come your way.  Seize each opportunity that you find, without concern for what others might say.  Experience each day with open arms, savoring both victory and strife, welcoming the good and bad together, for only then will you know the joy of life." - Anonymous
