an artist, a mother

I feel blessed to have the privilege of staying home and caring for my son.  I have never traveled without him.  Since he was four months old, he accompanies me to my art exhibitions and shows.  My son inspires me to continue being a full time artist who happens to be his mother...he is my greatest teacher.

to live from the heart of yourself

“…Passion…that is what a calling is. It lights you up and it lets you know that you are exactly where you're supposed to be, doing exactly what you're supposed to be doing. And that is what I want for all of you and hope that you will take from this show. To live from the heart of yourself. You have to make a living; I understand that. But you also have to know what sparks the light in you so that you, in your own way, can illuminate the world." - OPRAH

Open your eyes, look within. Are you satisfied with the life you're living?"

casi mira

Paul Gauguin said he closed his eyes in order to see.

I close my eyes to go deep inside where I gain wisdom and strength.

I close my eyes and quiet my mind.

I close my eyes and breathe.

I close my eyes to open my soul.

goddess talisman

One of my earliest memories is that of sitting on the majestic throne-like lap of beloved Grand Mother and kissing the Pre-Colombian eagle goddess pendant suspended from a long gold chain reaching her solar plexus. The shiny hammered talisman glowed in the sunlight, becoming warm in my hand, silently transferring ancestral wisdom.

stop worrying & enjoy the power of NOW

You can destroy your now by worrying about tomorrow.

- Janis Joplin (1943–1970)

She worries about what others might say.
She worries about how family may judge.
She worries she has gained three ounces.
She worries she will be single all of her life.
She worries she will be childless all of her life.
She worries she may want a divorce.
She worries he will leave her for a younger woman.
She worries her daughter will become sexually active at thirteen.
She worries about her adult-middle-age-almost-senior-citizen children.
She worries about worries...

WOMEN - STOP WORRYING...
BREATHE and ENJOY the POWER of NOW...

growth through silence

I love how the grass grows tall and proud despite the concrete
"See how nature - trees, flowers, grass - grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence...we need silence to be able to touch souls. "

floating on positivity

"Thoughts are like drops of water. When I think the same thoughts over and over again, I am creating this incredible body of water. First, I have a little puddle, then I may get a pond, and as I continue to think the same thoughts over and over and over again, I have a lake, and finally an ocean. If my thoughts are negative, I can drown in a sea of my own negativity. If my thoughts are positive, I can float on the ocean of life. I dwell on positive thoughts." - Louise L. Hay

birthing the goddess

Divine Motherhood involves fertility, yet it requires neither egg nor sperm. Fertility is a juicy readiness to produce and sustain growth – the soul’s growth. Divine Motherhood honors one’s body, nurtures one's spirit and gives birth to one’s soul over and over. I am pregnant – again – with my Self, birthing the Goddess within...

madre de picasso

Mi madre un día me dijo: "Si te haces soldado, serás General; si te haces monje, terminarás como el Papa." En cambio, me hice pintor y ahora soy Picasso.

One day, my mother said to me, "If you become a soldier, you will be a General; if you become a monk you'll end up as the Pope." Instead, I became a painter and now I am Picasso.

dreaming with Picasso

excerpt from a series of writings featuring Pablo Picasso; the stories always come to me through Spanish dreams

one sunny day
Lemon Tree
fell in love with Rosa Linda

and her thorns began to squeeze his juices dry
while her perfumes hypnotized him

after some time
with a bit of borrowed brown sugar
he finally won her over

on a moonlit night
dressed as Bull-Priest
Picasso married them with feather, gold and light

from this union
Fish-with-Butterfly-Wings was born

do you believe in such things?
marvelous and miraculous things...

sons & daughters of Life's longing for itself

I held my babe against my breast and said, Speak to us of Children.
And he said:

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let our bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.

- Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931)
